Catalan actor Eduard Fernández (Barcelona, 60 years old) has been awarded the National Cinema Award, for the year 2025. This award, granted annually by the Ministry of Culture, comes with a prize of 30,000 euros.
The jury unanimously selected the performer “for being one of the most outstanding actors in our cinema and for having an exceptional year in 2024 with two remarkable performances in two completely different films. The noble man fighting for the common good in The 47 and his role for which he won the Goya for Best Actor in Marco, where he transforms into a complex and contradictory figure like Enric Marco. In addition, he debuted as a director with his short film The Other.
The award, which the Minister of Culture usually presents during the San Sebastián festival, recognized María Zamora in its last edition, joining a list of past winners such as Penélope Cruz, José Sacristán, Isabel Coixet, Antonio Banderas, Josefina Molina, or Carla Simón.
