Same producer and same time slot for the replacement of Chain Reaction. This summer, Telecinco will premiere the game show Hold on to the Chair, also produced by Bulldog TV. Although it will have the same technical team, the network has decided to change the host. Instead of Ion Aramendi, Eugeni Alemany will take the lead in this format, announced Mediaset Spain in a statement.
The game show is an adaptation of the international format Tout le monde veut prendre sa place from Can’t Stop Media, which has been successful in France with over 18 seasons of uninterrupted broadcast. It will air from Monday to Friday starting at 8:00 PM. Therefore, it will face Pasapalabra on Antena 3, the undisputed leader of the time slot. Since the Mozos de Arousa left Chain Reaction at the end of 2024, the program’s audience ratings have fallen, and now Telecinco has decided to try its luck with another program of the same genre.
In Hold on to the Chair, a group of contestants face various rounds of questions in each episode, with correct answers rewarded with different points based on difficulty level. The best among them, who has accumulated the most points at that time, will face the Champion in the final phase, who will enjoy a series of advantages to defend their privileged position: choosing the questions for the participants challenging them, selecting who is eliminated in case of a tie, and in the final round, choosing the topic that both they and their adversary will answer, among others. In the decisive round, in addition to the chance to remain as Champion, a cash prize will be at stake.
The Valencian Eugeni Alemany previously worked at Telecinco as a reporter for Caiga quien caiga. He has also hosted Now I Fall on Antena 3, as well as collaborating on Whatever the Blonde Says (Cuatro), Better Saturday, and Zapeando (La Sexta).
