Marc Márquez (Ducati) achieved a valuable victory this Saturday in the sprint race of the Dutch Grand Prix of MotoGP, having started fourth, which allowed him to claim his ninth win in this format so far this season. The Spanish rider triumphed in the race against his brother Alex (Ducati), who finished in second place, and the Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), who completed the podium.

Márquez had a great start and was already in second place by the first straight. It took him less than a lap to overtake Fabio Quartararo, who had started from pole position. The French rider crashed at turn 10 of the tenth lap and had to say goodbye to the fight for the podium.

After the victory, Marc Márquez, the championship leader -who added 12 new points- explained: “I managed to get into first place, and from there I started to defend without exaggerating and without making any mistakes.” The Ducati rider has won nine out of the 10 sprints held so far this year; the only one he did not win was the British Grand Prix, where he finished second. With this new victory, he leads the riders’ championship with 282 points, extending his lead to 43 points over his closest competitor, his brother Alex. Other riders who scored points in the sprint race of the Dutch GP, besides the Márquez brothers and Bezzecchi, were Fabio Di Giannantonio, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, Maverick Viñales, Fermín Aldeguer, Franco Morbidelli, and Pedro Acosta.

The main race of the Dutch Grand Prix will be held this Sunday at 9 AM in our country (broadcast on ESPN and Disney+). Quartararo (Yamaha) secured his fourth pole position of the season on Saturday by being the fastest in the official qualifying at the Assen circuit and will start the race from the privileged position ahead of the Italian Bagnaia (Ducati) and the Spanish Alex Márquez. His brother Marc qualified fourth, 220 thousandths behind the Frenchman.

Perrone will start tenth in Moto 3

Moreover, Argentinian Valentín Perrone, who is competing in his first season in the Moto 3 category, will start the race from the tenth position this Sunday, at 6 AM in our country. The national rider, racing for KTM, had a very good qualifying time of 1m40s416—finishing 659 thousandths behind the pole position, which went to the Spaniard José Rueda—and will aim to finish in the points for the seventh consecutive time.
