Stefano Di Carlo will be the ruling party’s candidate for River | Elections at the end of the year.

River will have elections for authorities at the end of the year and the president Jorge Brito, who will not continue in the position after completing his first and only term, announced that the person who will replace him in the official formula will be Stefano Di Carlo.

“I am convinced that after these 12 years of management (referring to the two terms of Rodolfo D’Onofrio and his own) there will be another four years with Stefano Di Carlo, who not only has the characteristics to be president of River, but will be a great president of River,” the current president stated during an interview with the Cenital channel.

Di Carlo is the current general secretary of the club and was the second vice president during D’Onofrio’s second term. His family name has been associated with River for many generations: his great-grandfather, Ángel, was a leader during Antonio Vespucio Liberti’s administration, while his grandfather, Osvaldo, became president in 1989.

At 36 years old, Di Carlo is also the founder and president of the holding company Grupo IDIX, while at the Núñez club he became known for leading the implementation of the River ID system.

It is worth noting that Brito cannot run as a candidate in the upcoming elections (scheduled for November) due to the new statute, approved in 2023, which prohibits presidential re-election, among other changes.

In another part of the interview aired on Sunday with journalist Iván Schargrodsky, Brito referred to the departure of Franco Mastantuono to Real Madrid as soon as he turns 18.

“If the player decides to leave and executes the clause, there is not much to be done,” the leader acknowledged, while explaining why the clause was not increased: “It’s not that I didn’t think about raising it, but the agents do not accept abusive clauses. They are intended for the player to leave for a reasonable value that benefits the club.”
