The minor identified as one of the perpetrators of the racist insults directed at Barcelona player Lamine Yamal during the classic match played at Santiago Bernabéu on October 26, 2024, has admitted the facts and accepted the imposition of 30 hours of socio-educational tasks, as well as a ban on attending official matches for one year.
LaLiga, which specifically requested that the author of the insults be banned from entering any stadium hosting official football competitions for twelve months, confirmed these decisions on Tuesday, which are a result of the Youth Prosecutor’s Office’s investigation opened after the incidents.
The minor also explicitly and in writing apologized to the Barcelona player. “With this action, LaLiga reiterates its strong commitment to the fight against racism and any manifestation of hate in football,” stated the organization.
In the report sent by LaLiga to the Competition Committee, it was detailed that Yamal was subjected to the following insults in the 77th minute, after his goal: “son of a bitch, you are a son of a bitch. Menas of shit, you are a bunch of menas. Menas of shit. Sons of bitches. Black bastard.” The document indicated that “these insults were not generalized or coordinated in any case.” Videos shared by fans on social media also contained “bastard Moor” and “go sell tissues at the traffic light,” along with monkey gestures.
In Spain, the first convictions for racist insults in a football stadium occurred last year: there were three convictions with Real Madrid player Vinicius as the victim.
