A two-year-old girl has died early Sunday morning due to an electric shock that occurred on a fair ride in the Murcia village of Alquerías, which also caused injuries to three other minors, according to the Emergency Coordination Center.
According to emergency services, shortly after midnight, a call was received from the fairground reporting that a girl had been electrocuted, was unconscious, and was bleeding from the nose.
The Local Police of Alquerías, present at the scene, confirmed the girl’s unconscious state and requested urgent medical assistance. Civil Guard patrols also arrived to assist in the response and clarification of the events.
The Emergency Medical Services 061 sent a Mobile Emergency Unit. Subsequently, an ambulance was mobilized when the Local Police reported that three other children had also been affected, apparently by electric shocks. All were conscious and their condition did not seem serious.
At 1:16, the medical personnel confirmed the death of the two-year-old girl after an hour of unsuccessful cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The 061 personnel also attended to a 29-year-old woman experiencing an anxiety attack, as well as an eight-year-old girl and two boys aged 11 and 12, all showing symptoms of electrocution. These three minors were taken to the hospital by their own means.
The judge of the Instruction Court Number 9 of Murcia, on duty, has opened preliminary investigations for possible involuntary manslaughter following the death of a minor who received an electric shock while playing on a trampoline in the Murcia village of Alquerías early Sunday morning.
The Superior Court of Justice of Murcia has reported that, according to the order to open investigations, the events present characteristics that suggest the possible existence of a crime of involuntary manslaughter and negligent injury.
Among the agreed procedures, the judge ordered municipal personnel to collaborate with the judicial police team in dismantling and analyzing the electrical installations managed by the electricity supplying company, such as panels, grounding systems, and lighting components, among others.
